Who Are Patient Navigators?
Patient Navigators are specially trained healthcare professionals who guide patients through the often complex and overwhelming journey of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. At Urology Austin, they serve as a central point of contact and a trusted resource from day one.
Their goal? To ensure each patient understands their diagnosis, feels supported throughout their care, and receives timely, coordinated services tailored to their individual needs.
What Do They Do?
From the moment a diagnosis is confirmed, Patient Navigators step in to assist with:
- Explaining the diagnosis and treatment options in clear, easy-to-understand language
- Coordinating appointments, tests, and follow-ups with various specialists
- Facilitating communication between patients and providers
- Answering questions and offering support
- Helping with insurance and paperwork, when needed
- Guiding patients through recovery and next steps after treatment
Navigators act as advocates, educators, and allies—ensuring that no patient ever feels lost in the process.
Urology Austin currently offers navigation services for:
- Prostate cancer
- Overactive bladder (OAB)
We are working to expand our program to include other urologic conditions by 2026:
- Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
- Kidney cancer
- Bladder cancer
These services are designed to provide condition-specific support tailored to each patient’s needs, ensuring no one navigates their health journey alone.
